Starting a Child Care Center
Complete the Application Process
Child care centers are licensed by the state. The licensing process is divided into three phases.

Phase I: Submit an Application
The applicant submits the application, including policies and procedures. The applicant is assigned a licensor, who works with the applicant to finalize and approve the submitted policies.

Phase II: Licensor Review
A licensor will review your application while you work on completing application requirements, such as additional submissions, completing inspections, background studies, and setting up the facility.

Phase III: Inspection
You will receive a pre-licensing inspection to verify that all requirements have been met before your
license is granted.
